Now 20% colder than absolute zero

Evolution

Bored.
I’ve went from a BESTA T-9000 + Koss UR-20, to an iPod Classic (160GB late 2009 version) with amps and a beyerdynamic DT880-32.
Tomorrow some stuff are supposed to arrive. UPS screwed up. One of my packages had “invalid street number”, and later, “incorrect zip code”. Well now it shows “address has been corrected”. I hope that the address has been corrected to the correct address. 1234 Main Street is not 1243 Main Street. Damn. If the package falls into the wrong hands (yeah alright, it’s not a bio-weapon or some sort of a national secret) I don’t even know who to blame. The shipper? UPS? The UPS driver? The UPS guy who “corrected” the address?
Hey, I’m not even the worst case. Guy in Hawaii (or Cali) got this: PAK’G SEIZED BY GOV’T OR OTHER AGENCY- BEYONG UPS CONTROL.
FUBAR.
But hey, in the mean time, I just have to wait.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Big Bass

So here we have 4 headphones that are generally considered as “big bass”.

Considering the depth and overall volume, the Sony MDR-XB700 (which I proudly own) wins by a landslide. You can see the SkullCrushers having no real bass, but bloated mid-high bass that is a commun syndrome of such headphones. The Beats are, well, beat, with bass that starts at a mere 40Hz. The DT-880 has less bass, but can go just as deep as the Sonys. However the DT-880 is much more balanced, so for real music enjoyment they are the best among these four. Expensive, though.

A bit of fun…

I got a new road bike. An expensive 2006 model reduced to pratically nothing (for its components). Carbon fork, Race Face cranks…
Anyway. I was riding this on the road today and came to a junction. A yellow light was on and I tried to rush it. Problem is, when I got to the stop line the light was already red and the cars from the right have started to move and I was too fast to stop (around 40km/h, I was rushing down a slope)!…
I crossed the road and survived (apparently). I remember seeing this: a red pickup truck was about 10 meters to my right corner and I dodged it. The truck was a Dodge.
I dodged a Dodge.

BTW, this post doesn’t mean that the site is re-opened. It’s still down ’till May 5.

Just saw something

In my local electronics dealer, the HD 280 Pro costs 200$ while the triple.five costs the same. At the same time, the HD 535 costs 140$ while the HD 437 costs 50$.
I might get the 437 to review, anyway I can’t afford the (overpriced) 280 nor the triple.five. I review consumer-level headphones, anyway.
